Anti-Wrinkle Injections

What are Anti-Wrinkle Injections?

Commonly referred to as Botox, anti-wrinkle injections are used to smooth lines and wrinkles for a younger, more rejuvenated complexion. They are a popular choice to treat various parts of the face including frown lines, crow’s feet, smokers’ lines, downturned mouth, neck creases and more. Botox injections can also be used to reduce excessive sweating in the underarm area by up to 90%. At Mulberries Aesthetics & Beauty we only use Botox for our anti-wrinkle injections, and focus on providing natural-looking results from all treatments.

How do Anti-Wrinkle Injections work in the body?

Anti-wrinkle injections help to relax muscles using the active ingredient, protein, by initially blocking the nerve impulses. They are injected into the muscle area to relax muscles by preventing constant muscle contractions. This effect is reversible and temporary and requires further treatments to maintain its longevity, making it a safe option for patients who choose this anti-ageing option. Appointments usually last around 30 – 60 minutes depending on the area/s being treated.

Will I require anesthetic?

Anaesthetic isn’t usually required prior to an anti-wrinkle injection appointment. Any discomfort is usually just a mild stinging as the needles used are so small. At Mulberries Aesthetics & Beauty we offer a free consultation ahead of any injectable treatments so any concerns can be discussed in more detail before your appointment.

When will results first start to be visible?

1-3 days for treatment to start taking effect with full effects by day 14.  A top up maybe required.

How long will the result last?

Effects can last for up to 3 – 5 months following treatment, with underarm treatments for excessive sweating lasting from 6 – 9 months.

What side effects are associated with Anti-Wrinkle Injections?

Muscle weakness and dizziness are possible side effects caused with administration of anti-wrinkle injections. Patients who operate machinery or are considering driving following treatment should be aware of this to avoid any possible injury.

Muscle tenderness, redness, bruising, itching and swelling are possible after treatment.  Rarely patients may experience an allergic reaction and/or temporary drooping of eyelids or eyebrows after forehead injections. Side effects common to pre-injection anxiousness include nausea, tinnitus and temporary vasovagal reactions.
